Better Together: Green Builder Brandon Bryant on the Power of Partnership

Brandon Bryant didn’t set out to become a builder. Early in his career, he was selling land, but the work left him wanting more. “I wanted to create something meaningful,” Bryant says.

In 2006, he founded Red Tree Builders (now Alair Asheville | Red Tree), shifting from selling properties to shaping what would ultimately be built on them.

“I wanted to build homes that were better for families and better for our community,” Bryant says. “That conviction led me deep into green building, because I believed homes should be more than structures—they should be healthy, sustainable, and crafted with care. It wasn’t just a career shift; it was a calling to raise the standard and make a real difference.”

Building Through Partnership

Today, Bryant is a Master Certified Green Professional Builder known for crafting spaces that balance high performance with thoughtful design. His work often brings a sense of outdoor character into urban environments while applying the durability standards required for mountain construction.

“Our team is driven by impact,” Bryant says. “We want every project to make a meaningful difference for our clients and our community.”

That philosophy carries through to the people they build with. Alair Asheville | Red Tree regularly partners with local subcontractors and artisans to create highly customized homes, incorporating elements like hand-forged metalwork and artisan plaster.

“Innovation is at the core of what we do. We’re constantly seeking better ways to build and deliver an experience that exceeds expectations,” Bryant says. “Collaboration ties it all together; we believe the best results come from working closely with clients, partners, and each other.”

That approach takes shape across Western North Carolina, with projects spanning Asheville, Hendersonville, Transylvania County, and into communities around Lake Lure and Lake James. With an average cost of $528 per heated square foot, the firm focuses on high-performance, design-forward homes tailored to both place and lifestyle.

A Relationship-Driven Industry

From the beginning, Bryant recognized that success in construction depends as much on relationships as it does on technical expertise.

That philosophy is reflected in his long-standing involvement with the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains (BABRM), which he joined in 2013. Over the years, he has served in leadership roles at both the local and state levels.

“This association isn’t just something I’m proud of—it’s part of my legacy,” Bryant says. “I wouldn’t be where I am today, and we wouldn’t have the business we have, without the people and relationships I’ve built through BABRM.”

That same commitment to connection is what led to Bryant being named the 2025 Spike of the Year, an honor recognizing outstanding efforts in recruiting new members through the National Association of Home Builders’ Spike Club.

“It means a lot to me because this association has been such a positive influence both personally and professionally,” Bryant says. “I often share with others why being part of BABRM is so valuable, and this recognition reinforces that belief.”
