Make the Most of Your Membership
The best way to strengthen your business connection with your peers is to get involved in the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You’ll get out of it what you put into it. There are numerous ways to share your business and expertise with fellow BABRM members, including participating in events, volunteering, and joining a committee. When you participate, you gain direct access to resources to promote your company, meet new peers, and strengthen your business connections.

Volunteer for a Committee
Committees are an important link between the Board of Directors and BABRM members. Committee members’ input, involvement, and recommendations are crucial to meeting the needs of the general membership.
Serving on any of these committees will provide you with unique and valuable opportunities to network with industry peers, gain valuable exposure for you and your company, develop leadership skills, and serve your industry, the association, and your community.
Social
The Social Committee works closely with the BABRM staff to coordinate and promote fun events for the general membership that create networking and relationship building opportunities. Some of the most popular events include the BABRM Annual Golf Tournament, Sporting Clays Tournament, Holiday Party, and Battle of the Builders. Meets on the first Tuesday of every other month from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
Government Affairs
The Government Affairs committee liaises with our local, state, and nationally elected government officials. This committee focuses on items related to housing and the livelihood of our membership. Members of this committee meet with local elected officials, discuss ordinances, and promote BuildPAC contributions. Meets on the third Wednesday of every other month from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
Membership
Focusing on membership through recruiting efforts and retention, this committee works with staff to monitor membership statistics while establishing goals and incentives for membership growth and development. Assists with membership outreach, welcoming new members, and exploring what members want and need. Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
Parade of Homes
This committee plans the annual Parade of Homes, which encompasses the Parade of Homes kick-off events in February, and the BABRM Fall Awards Gala that focuses on the Parade awards and the WNC STARS Awards program. Members of this committee assist with recruiting home entries and evaluating features and sections of the Parade magazine and website, as well as promotional materials and much more. Meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
Workforce Development
BABRM members take direct action in a collaborative effort to address the labor shortage of skilled workers in the home building industry. Members of this committee take part in promoting and growing awareness of skilled trades and careers in construction in our local schools, and community. The committee also identifies and strengthens key partnerships with the local workforce, schools, and other organizations. Meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
Marketing
The Marketing Committee helps orchestrate BABRM’s marketing plan. Their work includes facilitating plans for advertising and other opportunities to promote our association to the larger community. The committee also leverages BABRM’s communication channels to communicate news, events and information to all members. Meets on the last Thursday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30pm.
