Building Together: Our Role at the WNC (Asheville Business) Summit

We’re so proud to have co-sponsored the WNC Summit (Asheville Business Summit) this year, a gathering of innovators, changemakers, and business leaders from across Western North Carolina. The theme—Forge the Future Together—couldn’t have resonated more with the work we’re doing in housing recovery and advocacy. wncsummit.com

Thanks so much to BABRM member Beth Lemmel with Action Coach for the hard work in pulling off this event and inviting us to be a part of it.

Why Our Participation Matters

When we step into spaces like the WNC Summit, we show that the building industry, housing, and community development are core parts of the region’s economic future. By showing up—not just as builders, but as advocates and partners—we help shift the narrative: development can be heart-led, equitable, and resilient.

What We Did There

  • As co-sponsors, we helped support the summit’s mission to connect, inspire, and lead across sectors.
  • Current Board member, Jeff Makey, with cLearn LLC, led a workshop, bringing real-world perspectives directly into conversations about growth, innovation, and collaboration. The workshop he led was “Building Professional Relationships that work”.  It was insightful and brought up some key points on body language, approaching tough conversations,
  • Through speaking, networking, and presence, we reinforced that housing recovery isn’t just a sideline issue—it’s central to WNC’s future stability and prosperity.

What It Signals to Our Members & Community

  • We lead not only with tools and skills, but also with ideas, resilience, connections, and influence.
  • We bridge gaps between industry, nonprofits, local government, and citizens.
  • We continue to elevate housing as an economic priority, not just a social one.

Looking Ahead

Events like the WNC Summit fuel momentum—but the real work happens when conversations turn into partnerships and policies. We’ll carry the connections we made there into our upcoming initiatives: volunteer build days, policy advocacy, community engagement, and more.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, supported, or tuned in. We’re committed to carrying the summit’s energy forward—so Western North Carolina can rebuild stronger, smarter, and together.
