Highlights From BABRM’s 2026 August Golf Tournament

The Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains’ 2026 August Golf Tournament brought together a sold-out field of 31 teams for a day of golf, networking, and friendly competition at Etowah Valley. With clear skies overhead and plenty happening around the course, members had a chance to step away from the jobsite and catch up with industry colleagues.

Golfers tested their skills in the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin contests, while Eagle Sponsors kept things lively with food, games, giveaways, and creative setups. After 18 holes, GBS came out on top, taking first place in the tournament.

“Our golf tournaments are always a good reminder that some of the strongest relationships in our industry are built outside of the day-to-day work,” said Mark Gould, 2026 BABRM president. “It was great to see so many members come out, reconnect, and enjoy a little friendly competition.”

Taking a Swing for Education

Backswing Events joined us for a Beat the Pro challenge benefiting the BABRM Education Foundation. Golfers could go head-to-head with a professional while raising money to support the Foundation’s education and workforce-development efforts.

The challenge added another layer of competition to the tournament, but more importantly, it gave golfers a chance to support programs that help strengthen the future of our local building industry.

“The Beat the Pro challenge gave golfers a fun way to support the next generation of our workforce,” Gould said. “That investment in education is important to the long-term strength of our industry and our local building community.”

“Helps” and “Hinders” Raise the Stakes

The BABRM leadership team faced some unusual challenges of its own. Through NC BuildPAC, donors could purchase “helps” or “hinders” for a team of BABRM past and future presidents competing in the tournament. Depending on what donors selected, team members might find themselves teeing off with their non-dominant hand or attempting to putt with a 2×4.

The unconventional challenges provided plenty of entertainment while raising money to support NC BuildPAC and its advocacy efforts on behalf of North Carolina’s building industry.

Celebrating Our Eagle Sponsors

Our Eagle Sponsors are always among the highlights of the tournament. Their food, activities, giveaways, and themed setups turn a round of golf into a full-course experience.

“Our Eagle Sponsors put a lot of creativity and effort into making the tournament enjoyable for everyone,” Gould said. “The new awards gave us a chance to recognize the companies that really embraced the event and made their stops stand out.”

This August, we introduced the Eagle Sponsor Awards to recognize the companies that went above and beyond for our golfers. Congratulations to our inaugural winners:
