Our November Disaster Recovery Task Force group’s monthly First Friday volunteer day was a success in supporting our partners, Transylvania Habitat for Humanity. We had our largest group turnout to date, with a couple of builders, affiliates, and associates represented, and several staff members jumped in for the first time as well. Our team was able to accomplish in a day what would’ve taken nearly a week otherwise.
Obviously, Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains has the key to the licensed, insured, professional experts in the homebuilding industry… and guess what? They’ve got heart, too; many of whom faced their own loss recently.
While some non-profits offer paying jobs for contractors, not all non-profits have the same funding resources, which makes volunteering really impactful. We were able to connect Transylvania Habitat with our experts for a complete rebuild for a family that has suffered unimaginable and tragic loss.
