Black Mountain: Permit fees are waived for the next six months. Be sure to identify if the repair is storm-related to assist with FEMA records. Permitting can be done through the new portal at https://app.govwelltech.com/black-mountain.
Buncombe County: Limited to 75 inspections per day at this time.
City of Asheville: Permits for storm damage should be obtained via TS Helene permits this form. All other permits should follow the conventional process.
McDowell County:
- For residential remodeling due to Hurricane Helene, permits will be listed under “RESIDENTIAL REMODELING DUE TO HURRICANE HELENE,” and fees will be waived.
- For rebuilds in the floodplain, floodplain permits and elevation certificates are required.
- Interior remodeling in the floodplain does not require elevation certificates or floodplain permits.
Henderson County: Permitting is currently down and is not expected to be available until October 21.
Montreat: No known changes to the permitting process, although there may be issues with floodplain requirements.
Marshall: At this time we don’t have a response.
