2025 BABRM Sporting Clayshoot Recap
On Thursday, March 27th, members and friends of the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains gathered at the Biltmore Sporting Clays Club for our annual Sporting Clays Tournament—a member-favorite tradition filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and some serious skill on display.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Biltmore’s expertly designed course, teams of four tackled 12 challenging stations with one goal in mind: take home bragging rights and get their names engraved on our coveted trophy. With both AM and PM rounds, and a crowd-pleasing lunch in between, the event offered plenty of time to shoot, socialize, and celebrate our vibrant building community.
The morning kicked off right with hot, delicious coffee from Refuge Coffee, keeping our shooters warm and sharp before heading out on the course. We’re grateful to Refuge for fueling the fun and keeping the energy high throughout the day!

🏆 Top Team: Team Benton – Total Score of 342
🎯 PM Round
🏅 Top Individual Shooter: Denis – Score of 93
🏆 Top Team: Wright Family Custom Homes – Total Score of 317
With the highest overall score, Team Benton will have their name proudly engraved on the BABRM Sporting Clays Trophy!
Meanwhile, a special shoutout goes to our lowest scoring teams—the M&M’s and Best Buy Metal—who will each receive a two-hour sporting clays lesson at the Biltmore Sporting Clays Club. We can’t wait to see their comeback next year. Watch out, folks—they’re coming for the trophy!
One of the day’s most exciting moments came from our Gun Raffle, benefiting NC Build PAC. In a remarkable twist of luck, Jimmy Penland of Silver Dog Construction won both raffle guns. In an incredibly generous gesture, he offered to pass along one of his prizes so another winner could be drawn. That second lucky winner? Tom Willis with Harrison Homes!
From seasoned pros to first-time participants, the event was a testament to the energy, generosity, and good-spirited competition within our membership. We’re especially proud of the Licensed GCs who anchored each team, keeping the event both fun and professionally grounded.
A big thanks to everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered, and made this event possible. Whether you came to network, improve your shot, or just enjoy the view, we hope you left with new connections and great memories.
Until next year—keep your eye on the target
