The Asheville Home Builders Association is excited for the 2013 Parade of Homes! For two weekends in October, area homes will be open for self-guided tours where the public can meet the builders, view design trends and much more! While the Parade is still several months away, we are excited to have 15 entries already for this years Parade. Check out the list of participating companies below.
Blue Ridge Energy Systems – Blue Ridge Energy Systems was founded in 1977 by Robin Woodward to address the emerging need for energy conservation in residential construction. Through hard work, attention to detail, and a focus on energy usage and systems development, Blue Ridge Energy Systems was building “green” before “green” was cool. We take an economic approach to green building – we keep our building costs comparable to conventional building, keep our homes’ energy costs to a minimum (about $150 per year for heating and cooling a 2,400 sf house), and we use the most durable materials available so our homes are both environmentally and financially sustainable.
Brookstone Builders, Inc. – Brookstone Builders is a Black Mountain and Asheville area builder with a reputation for creative and quality craftsmanship. We have been passionate about building other people’s dreams since 2003.

Meinch Construction, Inc. – Meinch Construction, Inc. is owned by Aaron and Jesse Meinch. Meinch Construction has been building homes in Asheville for 12 years. Aaron studied buseinss at Montreat College. He started working on an interior trim & finish carpentry crew, while in college in the mid 90’s, and fell in love with the building industry. Jesse knew he was destined to be a great general contractor, he began working on a framing crew for Bob Spear and Paul Sullivan, two past presidents of the Asheville HBA, in 1999. Mountain Sun Building & Design – Emily Boyd graduated from ASU in 2000 with a degree in Appropriate Technology (green building). She has been a licensed General Contractor in NC since 2005 and is a Building Performance Institute certified Building Analyst and Building Envelope Professional. After working in the construction industry in many roles, Emily started Mountain Sun Building & Design in 2010. Her first new construction project was LEED for Homes Platinum certified and net zero. Emily’s passion is creating beautiful, comfortable, light filled spaces that are a pleasure to live and work in and are energy efficient, on time and on budget.
Steve Williams, Builder – Steve and Suzanne Williams began Steve Williams, Builder in Florida in 1982. Re-locating to Asheville in 1992, we have constructed over 30 custom and spec homes in addition to both large and small remodeling projects. As hands-on builders, we limit our projects to 1-3 homes a year in order to maintain a high degree of quality and allow Steve to concentrate on interior trim and built-in features in almost every home. Energy efficiency and reduced waste and recycling along with “healthy-built” guidelines help keep each project as low–impact as possible.
