After Hours at First Citizens Bank Recap

In case you missed last Thursday’s AHBA After Hours at First Citizens Bank downtown, let us fill you in on what happened. With a Workforce Development focus, we were excited to award and hear from our 2018 AHBA Scholarship recipients. Guest representatives from NC Works and Green Opportunities spoke on their mission, resources, and goals for tomorrow’s workforce and how important community partnerships are, and we also heard from members of the AHBA Workforce Development Committee on their current initiatives and goals. Attendees were entered into the event giveaways by answering and displaying questions that addressed necessary job qualifications and advice from current construction industry professionals directed towards the future industry workforce. Some of the questions and thought ideas included, ” What job skill or qualification have you found most valuable or critical to your success,” and “Share an idea of how our community can be more innovative in promoting or supporting people to enter the building trades.” You can view some of the answers in the photos below or on the AHBA Facebook Page:

The AHBA is honored to reward $3000 dollars in scholarship money to students studying a construction related field. Applicants were reviewed by the Scholarship Review Committee and recipients were invited to attend After Hours and were each given a moment to speak. These students addressed the crowd and expressed their gratefulness for the AHBA supporting their pathway to construction career success.
