AHBA meets 2017 BuildPAC Goal

The Asheville HBA’s Government Affairs Committee set their goal for 2017 to raise at least $6,000 from Asheville HBA Members by January 31st for NC Build PAC.  “The Political Action Committee of the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NC Build PAC) is a non-partisan committee organized for the specific purpose of raising funds to support pro-housing candidates of all parties at the state and local levels of government.”

The Committee raised just over $6000 in the first thirty days of the 2017 year through contributions at the AHBA Annual Meeting and the Region X NCHBA Meeting. NC Build PAC helps to support pro-housing officials that are working to promote the home building industry; which in turn is saving our members thousands on housing starts and fees as they build homes throughout Western North Carolina.  Uniquely, out of all funds raised by our local association, 30% comes back to our local reserve in which we can use that to directly support local candidates running for office in our community.

This year the Government Affairs Committee is focusing on “Supporting those who support the home building industry.” Said Thomas McClain of Home Sweet Home Land Management. NCHBA is working hard to keep a pro-housing agenda at the state level, and by raising funds at our local HBA, our state and local legislators know that the Home Builders Association is serious about helping our member’s voice to be heard when it comes to legislation that affects their livelihood”.  McClain serves as the Chair of the 2017 AHBA Government Affairs Committee.  Also volunteering their time to serve on this committee is Diane Holmes of 1-800-Water Damage, Scott Sawyer of ECS Southeast, Greg Spicer of MATH Insurance, Nick Scroggs of Scroggs Construction and Alston Ludwig of McGuire, Wood & Bissette Real Estate and Development Team.
