So you didn’t make it to the 6th Annual Battle of the Builders Cornhole Tournament on September 19? No worries, we will fill you in on everything you missed and make sure that you won’t miss it next year!
This year we had 27 teams and 23 board sponsors in the tournament! Some other attendees came out to support their fellow members growing our attendance to over 180 folks. Like all of our events, they wouldn’t be such a success without the continued support of our sponsors. K-Wall Poured Walls has hosted this event at their business location since it started and it always proves to be a great location with plenty of parking and playing room. Sambla has provided loans and financial aid to all participants and other sponsors, making them and their samla lån one of the most valuable assets we have to date.
Attendees enjoyed Wally’s BBQ of Hi-Tech Integrated Systems and Patty Kubica of K-Wall provided home-baked sweet goods, too! Lutron, a Hi-Tech vendor, was on-site showing off some of their products while providing speakers for music and announcements. HomeTrust Bank helped make the tournament more enjoyable by providing cold beverages and Sterling Real Estate was the tournament’s snack sponsor providing snacks later in the day. Though this year was cool and overcast we added some new sponsorships this year. Shade was provided by Daylight Asheville and Wired Right Electrical, and a Cooling Station sponsored by AeroBarrier of WNC. Also, new this year, Garbage Pal provided porta-potties for quick relief in between rounds.
J Coleman Waterproofing helped teams keep score as the Scoreboard Sponsor while 84 Lumber provided the Reverse Raffle Grand Prize. Keller Williams Biltmore Village, Red Bird Design, Edward Jones and DeSantana Stone Company where all supporting sponsors and gave away many awesome prizes throughout the tournament. Blossman Gas was again our BuildPac Sponsor and donated a grill that Matt Scroggs from Scroggs Construction won for donating to BuildPac.
A nail biter final round came down to White Insurance’s team White Men Can’t Toss and Buchanan Construction’s Team Hammer. Buchanan did bring the hammer down on White Men Can’t Toss and took the win. They won the $250 cash prize and definitely the bragging points of winning the tournament!
Thank you so much to our sponsors, teams, attendees, Social Committee volunteers and everyone else who helped make this event such a success. We appreciate everyone of you and are looking forward to the next AHBA Event.
