Careers in Construction promoted at local High School Career Fair on April 20

Labor Shortages in the Construction Industry is a key challenge our members are facing in today’s market.

Do you remember how you were introduced to pursue your career path?  Who and what influenced you?  Here is your chance to give back, promote the home building industry and engage with local area students exploring their future career paths!

Our local area high schools are offering a one-day career fair event to our local businesses at no cost – in return they ask for your time, resources and area of expertise. Maybe you are willing to host an intern or apprentice, host a tour of your facility or building project…the opportunities are endless.  Be creative with your display, engage students with a live demonstration and/or fun competition at your booth!

Over 1000 juniors and seniors from Asheville City, Buncombe and Madison County Schools will participate in the Career and College Fair at the US Cellular Center on Friday, April 20th from 8:30am to 3pm.  Students will be divided into two groups with one group visiting between 9:00 -11:00 am and the other group visiting from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm.

This is the perfect opportunity to promote Skilled Trades to the next generation while promoting your business and shedding light on the rewarding career opportunities in our local home building industry.  All areas are needed to promote rewarding career paths in construction – Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVACR, Masonry, Painting and more!  Other industries will be represented from Agriculture to Business Administration and everything in between. Let’s work together to be sure the building industry has a strong showing here too!

What is provided?  An 8′ x 10′ booth space, standard pipe and drape, display table, 2 chairs and electric upon request.  Vendors will need to bring their own lunch – more details here.
