AHBA Holiday Party 2017

Last Thursday, we hosted our Annual AHBA Holiday Party sponsored by Builders FirstSource at Highland Brewing Company and if you weren’t there, we’re sorry we missed you! We’re also sorry you missed the Cold Mountain that was on tap. Yes, you read correctly – Cold Mountain. With almost 200 people in attendance, a photo booth (sponsored by 1-800-Water Damage of WNC), a reverse raffle, some funky and festive holiday outfits, it was a night to connect, celebrate and raise a glass with fellow AHBA members and industry partners.

The AHBA teamed up with Toys for Tots and members proudly stepped up to bring a construction themed toy or a donation. Toys for Tots covers Buncombe, Cleveland, Henderson, Madison, Polk, Transylvania, and Yancey counties and works in conjunction with all Elementary and Middle Schools in these counties to distribute toys to the families that need them. We were thrilled to donate over 3 large boxes of toys and $225 to families in need this year. We appreciate everyone who helped make that possible.

The evening wrapped up with a moment of recognition of our 29 sponsoring companies that make up our 2017 Foundation Club program – each awarded plaques and certificates for their time, dedication and support of the AHBA. Additionally, eight member companies were in the spotlight for their 10 year consecutive support of Foundation Club since it began in 2008, including 84 Lumber, Builders FirstSource, J Coleman Waterproofing, MATH Insurance Service, McGuire Wood and Bissette Real Estate & Construction Law Team and Tucker Materials, Inc.

The AHBA Staff and Membership thanked our dedicated board of directors including Brandon Bryant of Red Tree Builders, the 2017 President, for all they have done to grow the AHBA and support our mission this year. Christi Stokes, Executive Officer, along with Bryant addressed the crowd highlighting just a few of many accomplishments of the AHBA this year including a new Workforce Development committee, a 10% net growth in membership, and exceeding our 2017 NC Build PAC goal.

Save the date and hold your seat for our Annual Meeting on January 18 at The Collider for our 2018 Leadership Installation and Keynote Speaker, Meredith Oliver to help us kick off 2018!
