International Builders’ Show 2022 Recap

The Asheville Home Builders Association showed out BIG at the 2022 International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, Florida last week. With NAHB reporting 45,000 home building professionals in attendance, our members definitely stood out!

Many members were actively involved in this year’s show. A few had booths on the showroom floor: Carolina Colortones, 84 Lumber, 2-10 Warranty, Builders FirstSource, Builders Mutual, Florida Tile and Schluter Systems were all in attendance. Some individuals were teaching or presenting. Brandon Bryant of Red Tree Builders (former AHBA President, and current NCHBA President-Elect) spoke in 2 Education Sessions – Beer & Banter: High Performance Home Design Hacks & Kitchens of Tomorrow: Getting Ahead of the Design Curve. Judy Dinelle of 84 Lumber was in attendance, and alongside her many other duties, she got all dressed up to present at the Professional Women in Building Awards.

We had a good number of members just show up to learn about new products, network, and enjoy the festivities. Most importantly we had members there to take home Awards! Builders Mutual recognized Buchanan Construction, LLC for NAHB Safety Champion of the Year. At the Best in American Living Awards Milestone Contracting, LLC won 2 awards for their Villa Nova Modern Home (featured in our 2021 Parade of Homes). They were 2021 Best in the Region Middle Atlantic, and a Platinum winner for Custom Home between 3,001 – 4,000 sq. ft (architect: Brickstack Architects). Bluestone Construction, LLC received a Platinum for The Lumiere House in the 4,001 – 5,000 sq. ft. category. While at the NAHB Remodeling Awards Celebration Semper Fi Custom Remodeling took home an award for Best Home Addition.

“IBS is always a great way to gain a refreshed perspective on your drive and inspiration in the industry while building lasting relationships.”

Megan Carroll, Executive Director of the Asheville Home Builders Association.

On a state level, we are happy to announce that Buddy Hughes from Lexington, NC was elected as Third Vice Chairman of the Board of the NAHB. It’s great to see a North Carolina representative on the National Stage. The NCHBA was also awarded a Builders Mutual Safety Award for their member mental health initiative.

Before the start of the show, we had members win scholarships to attend. Debbie Odom, from Deltec, was able to attend IBS for FREE (all-inclusive). If you would be interested in scholarships for the 2023 International Builders’ Show, please reach out to our office.
