HURRICANE RESOURCES - HOMEOWNERS and BUILDERS

Jake Tucker of Beach Hensley Homes

In November’s edition of Nuts & Bolts,  we will learn about Jake Tucker of Beach Hensley Homes. As the operations manager for Beach Hensley Homes, Jake has been with Beach for almost four years and loves building in a market where green is the model, and having such a broad-spectrum role in his company.  “Every day has its unique challenges and rewards.”  Jake also serves on the AHBA Workforce Development Committee and recently won Affiliate Member of the Year at the AHBA Fall Awards Gala.

If you could go to one local spot for free for a year, what would it be?
The Magnetic Theater.  I love Asheville’s experimental theater scene. The runner up would be Toy Boat Community at Art Space.

– Being a member of the Asheville Home Builders Association provides me with opportunity to…
be active in our local construction community and play a role in builders helping builders.

– Have you always worked in the construction industry? If not, what did you do before that?
I actually have an academic background.  I came to Beach Hensley Homes from Virginia Tech, where I was a design and construction consultant for the school and adjunct faculty in the department of Building Construction, teaching building systems design and real estate development planning.

– What is your favorite AHBA Event and why?
Learn over Lunch.  Continuing education is important to me, and it’s fun being on the other side of the classroom.  Can’t wait for IBS in January!

– How do you measure “success?”
I feel successful when I earn a living pursuing my passion.  As a home builder, it all revolves around the triple bottom line; people, planet, profit.

Beach Hensley Homes was founded in 2004 as a framing and carpentry contractor. Formerly known as Beach Builders, Beach Hensley Homes incorporated in 2005 and evolved into a licensed general contractor by 2007.  Our goal is to bring quality built and “green” within the reach of most home buyers.
