Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, & fixtures of water, waste, and vent, and gas piping systems according to the specifications and plumbing codes. Study and understand building drawings in order to sequence plumbing installations. Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from the installation of pipe. Locate and mark the position of pipe and pipe connections & passage holes in walls and floors. Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools. Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metal, iron, steel, brass, plastic, etc. Join pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, compression, etc. Fill the system with air or water and read pressure gauges to determine whether the system is leaking. Install and repair plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, lavatories, water closets, bathtubs, showers, water heaters, roof drains, garbage disposals, water softeners, floor drains, trench drains, etc. Repair and maintain all types of plumbing fixtures and open clogged drain lines. Install underground water, sewer, and gas lines.
