Sean D. Sullivan, CAPS, CGP, owner of Living Stone Construction Inc. in Asheville, N.C., has been named the Certified Green Professional (CGP) of the year by the National Association of Home Builders.
Specializing in green new construction and renovation, Sullivan leads with a commitment to quality design, innovative energy efficiency and other green applications, as well as aging-in-place and universal design elements. He is active with the North Carolina Home Builders Association, where he has served as president and chaired the political action committee. NAHB recognized two of his firm’s projects with Best in American Living Awards in 2013 and 2015.
The CGP designation recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green and sustainable building principles into homes — without driving up the cost of construction. The required courses provide a solid background in green building methods, as well as the tools to reach consumers.
“By presenting the Designee of the Year awards, NAHB honors individuals who fully embody our ideals,” said 2016 NAHB Education Chair William L. Shaw, Jr., GMR, CGR, GMB, CAPS and CGP, a Houston remodeler and NAHB instructor.
“These are our leaders. As they incorporate innovative practices and techniques that ultimately benefit home buyers and home owners, they shine a positive light on our industry and inspire others through their commitment to excellence.”

The 2016 Designee of the Year award winners were recognized on Jan. 9 at the Designation Achievement Reception just before the 2017 International Builders’ Show in Orlando.
