The River Arts District is emerging as a new frontier in urban living. It is a gateway between Downtown and West Asheville and is a true walk, bike, drive neighborhood. This once industrial area, known as “Chicken Hill”, is being infilled with new homes influenced by turn of the century styles and rustic workman cottages, blended with modern aspirations.
The public will have a chance to see three of these creative homes on Thursday, April 13, 5:00pm – 7:00pm. The American Institute of Architects (AIA Asheville, is partnering with Modern Asheville to host this home tour. The event is free, but a $10 donation is suggested. Proceeds used to continue design education programs.
Park in area along West Haywood Street and Hilliard Streets. Proceed to nearby tent to register and receive wrist band to enter homes. Details: www.aiaasheville.org
