In last month’s Membership Minute, I talked about how to Supercharge Your Elevator Pitch. Do you remember the four key words?…Hook, Stop, Reel and Serve. Have you had a chance to put your new elevator pitch in to play? In this age of technology and digital connectivity, it can be a challenge to find time to test it out through some good ol’ face to face interaction.
A simple yet bold statement I read in a blog post recently: “…there’s no substitute for the magic of a face-to-face interaction with someone else who cares. Even the most ingenious machine-based attempts to mimic human conversation (hello, Siri) can’t match the emotional richness of a real conversation with a real person” quoted by George Anders, contributing editor for Forbes magazine. A good reminder for everyone regardless of the situation.
Make time to strike up a conversation with your clients, customers and other AHBA members through an in person interaction. In any conversation, emphasize the Serve portion of your elevator pitch – focusing not on your needs but on the needs of who you are talking to. In this efficient world we live in, don’t lose the art of conversation.
