Stokes Awarded New EO of the Year

Christi Stokes of the Asheville Home Builders Association was awarded New Executive Officer of the Year for the North Carolina Home Builders Association on December 6th at 4th quarter meeting of the NCHBA. This honor is bestowed on exemplary leaders that have made an large impact in their association in the short amount of time they have held the Executive Officer position. As the largest Association in the NAHB, NCHBA is comprised of 61 local chapters that are each lead by an Executive Officer.

Taking on the role of EO for the Asheville HBA in June of 2016, Stokes has utilized her background as Membership Director to help increase membership in the Asheville Area and create a need for local building professionals to participate in the Asheville HBA.

The new Workforce Development Task Force starting in August 2017 by Stokes and 2017 AHBA President Brandon Bryant of Red Tree Builders supports addressing the labor shortage for construction and skilled trades in the Asheville Market and builds upon the Playhouse Showdown in area high schools as well as the AHBA Scholarship Program. The AHBA Scholarship Program in 2017 contributed $3,000 in scholarships to area students that are planning to study in a construction related field, and has been able to benefit two current members that are working towards their education while working for AHBA Builder Members. Stokes’ Workforce Development Task Force aims to promote  careers in construction while giving back to the community.

The Asheville HBA Staff and Board of Directors are excited and honored to congratulate Christi for all of her hard work and efforts to grow the Asheville HBA and ‘Bring Professionalism to the Industry’ here in Western North Carolina.
